Report: Warriors player went on profane tirade at halftime

An unknown Warriors player went on a “profanity-laced tirade” during halftime of the team’s game against the Thunder on Saturday night, ESPN’s Lisa Salters reports. While she couldn’t say for sure who the player was, Salters said all indications pointed toward it being forward Draymond Green.

Green was 0 of 4 from the field in the first half with six assists.

One of the players went on a profanity-laced tirade. I did not hear what precipitated it, but he was yelling so loudly that I could hear everything that he was saying. I think you heard a little bit of it as well, Mike [Breen]. I think that it was Draymond Green. The indications that I’ve gotten from other players is that it was Draymond Green. He was yelling and screaming “I am not a robot, I know I can play. You have me messed up right now. If you don’t want me to shoot, I won’t shoot the rest of the game.” At one point, people were trying to get him to sit down, from what I could hear, and he was daring people, threatening people, “come sit me down.” It then got very quiet, guys came out of the locker room.

When ESPN returned from a break, Salters gave a second report from the baseline, relaying much of the same information. “I believe this player was Draymond Green,” she said. “I have never heard anything like that coming from any kind of professional locker room.”

The Warriors beat the Thunder 121–118 in overtime after Stephen Curry drained a 38.4-foot shot with 0.6 seconds left.

Green finished with two points, 14 rebounds and 14 assists as Golden State improved to 53–5. Oklahoma City fell to 41–18.

“What goes on in here stays in here. Clearly I’ve never been a guy who cares about shots. ... We know what goes on between our team, we know what sparks this team,” Green said after the game, according to ESPN. “We know what this team do, but what goes on in this locker room stays here.”
