Lionsgate has plans to turn a ball of yarn, three matches, a bubble gum wrapper, and this nose hair into a MacGyver film. CEO Jon Feltheimer announced during an earnings call today that the studio is planning to produce a new MacGyver movie, in addition to the already announced TV show reboot. The AV Club reports that Feltheimer didn’t offer many details, other than that the series’ creator Lee David Zlotoff and Neal Moritz, the producer of the Fast And The Furious franchise, would be producing.

The aforementioned TV reboot is planned for CBS. Furious 7 director James Wan will be executive producer on the project, which will serve as a prequel to the original series. The show was described as MacGyver getting "recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening."

David Zlotoff and Neal Moritz will produce the movie

Wan had initially planned to produce a MacGyver movie back in 2012, but he ended up having to drop it in order to put together Furious 7. It looks like now he and Moritz have taken some time away from blowing up cars to show younger viewers how a little ingenuity can stop bad guys on both TV and the big screen.
