Chester Kolenda, 86, Of Stamford

STAMFORD, Conn. – Chester Stanley Kolenda, 86, died Sunday, Jan. 25.

Born in Stamford Jan. 4, 1929, he was the son of the late Anthony and Genewefa Kuszmar Kolenda. Kolenda was a lifelong resident of Stamford and attended Holy Name School. He was an Army veteran and worked for Pitney Bowes for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church and a former member of the Holy Name Athletic Club.

He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia Karst (David) of Smyrna, Ga.; and Kelly Darcey (Patrick) of East Greenwich, R.I.; one sister and one brother; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Cecilia, and one brother.

A memorial service will take place Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia's Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford. The interment will immediately follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien, Conn.
