Scottish tennis pro Andy Murray married longtime girlfriend Kim Sears Saturday at Dunblane Cathedral in Dunblane, Scotland. The couple began dating in 2005 and got engaged in November. Murray, 27, was seen arriving to the church dressed in a formal kilt. He was joined by his brother Jamie Murray, who was also dressed in a similar ensemble. The tennis star waved to the gathered crowds as he walked up to the 12th century cathedral. Later, he emerged with his smiling bride and they were showered with well-wishes from guests and fans. Sears wore a bespoke Jenny Packham wedding gown, featuring silk chiffon and hand beaded Swarovski crystals. Murray was clearly excited about the big day even before he exchanged his vows, sending out an emoji-filled tweet on Saturday morning. He previously told the Telegraph that he and Sears, also 27, weren’t inviting any of Murray’s fellow tennis stars, not even friends and frequent opponents Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. “There won’t be any celebrities as such,” Murray said. “[It will be] everyone who we’re close to, people we’ve spent a lot of time with in the past, but also people we see ourselves spending time with in the future.” And although he’s extremely skilled on the court – he won the Olympic gold medal for men’s singles in 2012 and was the first British man to win Wimbledon in 77 years when he nabbed the title in 2013 – that talent didn’t extend to wedding planning. “Kim’s been pretty much doing it. I’ve tried to help out when she has asked, but I haven’t been over-involved,” he told the Telegraph. “I did all the food and cake tasting which I really enjoyed, although I didn’t think I was going to. “It’s a big day for Kim,” he added. “Pretty much everything is taken care of now. She seems fairly relaxed but as we get closer that might change.” Keeping Murray out of the way was apparently the right play on Sears’s part, as the wedding turned out to be a total ace.
