Jean Claude Van Damme is part of that generation of action stars that just refuses to die or retire. After Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger have come up with their own movie projects, it's now time for The Muscles from Brussels to shine – the actor is reportedly working on bringing back one of his most famous movies, “Kickboxer.”

The Hollywood Reporter claims that Van Damme is in final negotiations to join the cast of the “Kickboxer” reboot, alongside Dave Bautista and Alain Moussi. The only difference is that this time he won't be playing the willing student but the wise master.

Van Damme is thus replacing Thai actor Tony Jaa, famous in his country for his roles in action movies, who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. The main part will be played by Alain Moussi, who will star as Kurt Sloan, a talented martial artist who travels to Thailand to learn the secrets of kickboxing in order to avenge his brother's death at the hand of the evil Tong Po played by Bautista.

Though he doesn't look it, Van Damme will instead play Master Chow, who is responsible for teaching Sloan the art of the kick. The producers are excited to have Van Damme appear in the reboot, after he starred in the 1989 original film.

The reboot starts filming this week in New Orleans and moves to Thailand to be completed.
