Watch Traditional Japanese Musicians Play Songs From Fire Emblem, Zelda, And More

Recommended Videos

We’ve seen and heard plenty of talented individuals who play video game music on piano and guitar, but not many like “Famikoto,” a group of professional traditional instrument musicians. Check out some of their work in their latest videos.

Famikoto are basically a band of professional musicians that use koto (traditional Japanese stringed instrument) and other instruments to recreate video game music with a Japanese touch.

The first video shows them playing a Nintendo medley, featuring songs from series such as Fire Emblem, The Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario Bros.

They also have one for Final Fantasy III’s main track, “Eternal Wind”.

And above is a video of them playing one of Final Fantasy X’s most popular tracks with “To Zanarkand,” followed by a little Mother (Earthbound series) medley.

According to their official website, Famikoto will play later this month on the 28th at the Koto ward Culture Center Hall to play music from various Capcom games like Street Fighter II, Commando, Ghosts ‘n Goblins, Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Okami.

It also lists other titles such as The Ninja Warriors, Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, Tokimeki Memorial and a Seiken Densetsu 3 (Mana series) medley.
