Techstars has today announced Techstars++, its new program to give support to its graduating startups after they have graduated from the accelerator.
Announced today in a blog post, Techstars is initially partnering with the Mayo Clinic but said it would be announcing new partners in the future. Techstars++ offers businesses that have been through its accelerator on-site time with partner companies.
For this first partnership, for example, any healthcare startups may wish to spend two weeks at the Mayo Clinic exploring potential business and development opportunities. The organization said that a full-time Techstars mentor will always be on-site to help the startups make the most of their time with each partner.
The move presents a good opportunity for Techstars, partners and the startups involved. Techstars gets a more fully-formed program and better-connected startups, the partners get access to new ideas and technologies and the startups get access to huge companies, key contacts and potential business opportunities.
It’s a little like adding a brand-focused accelerator element to a general accelerator program.
