Fort Hill Brewery is now open in Easthampton, MA!

For many, the wait is finally over! Watching a large building take shape in an open field in Easthampton over the last 22 months left many wondering when will this new brewery finally open, and what will they be selling?

If you really want to know what is happening in Fort Hill Brewery, the best way to find out is to come for a visit. The brewery is open every Friday from 4-7pm, and Saturdays 2-6pm. During that time, they will be offering free samples of our latest beers, offer a tour of our large brewhouse by the owner and brains behind the operation, Eric Berzins, and fill up growlers (or smaller growlettes) to purchase.

Not only that, but the brewery has just received their pouring license! What might that mean for someone coming in to visit on a Friday night? You can now buy pints of beer. Really. And enjoy some tasty pretzels, too. On Saturdays, just outside the front door you will find Foley’s Franks, which sells delicious hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages, and even a few vegan items.

Some have asked Berzins, “Why Easthampton?” Originally from the Vermont area, why choose this quaint little town to start such a large operation. No beer can have great taste without one major ingredient–water. In Easthampton, “the true gem is the award winning water,” says Louis Wolter, brewhand at Fort Hill Brewery. Add in some locally grown, organic hops, and you are on your way to one delicious, fresh lager.

Fort Hill Brewery was established by a small group of friends who like to brew. Their goal is to provide Pioneer Valley region with the best traditional German-style lager beer. Many visitors have already tried the Oktoberfest, or one of the Mark Series (Mark II, M3, and M4), named after a visiting brewer who helped setup the expansive brewhouse seen today.

Just released at Fort Hill is the Bock Bier. This new brew on tap is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and uses locally grown organic cascade hops from the 2014 growing season. At 6% ABV, this beer is very drinkable and leaves room for another, and maybe just one more after that. Fort Hill Brewery also has a reputation for their clean, unfiltered lagers. All beers conform to the “Reinheitsgebot,” or German Purity Law, which states that lager beer can only be brewed with four ingredients: water, malt, hops, and yeast.

And there are soon to be more brews on the way. Fort Hill Brewery now has a food truck every Saturday and a pouring license. What will come next?
