Online school directory says business, teaching most searched courses in 2014


A site that presents prospective students with a directory of Philippine colleges and universities and their respective degree programs has revealed that business administration, secondary education, and information technology are the trending college courses among Filipino students.

The list was taken from the preferences of the almost 1.2 million users who have reached out to tertiary education institutions through the online directory FindUniversity.ph.

Based on the data gathered by FindUniversity.ph from January 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015, these are the most searched on the site according to rank:

1. BS in Business Administration
2. Bachelor of Secondary Education
3. BS in Information Technology
4. BS in Accountancy
5. MA in Education
6. BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management
7. Bachelor of Elementary Education
8. BS in Nursing
9. BS in Civil Engineering
10. Doctor of Medicine
11. Master of Business Administration
12. BS in Architecture
13. BS in Psychology
14. BS in Tourism Management
15. BS in Computer Science
16. BS in Computer Engineering
17. Bachelor of Laws
18. MA in Nursing
19. BS in Criminology
20. BS in Marine Transportation

Aside from linking institutions with their potential students, FindUniversity.ph also provides updated tuition fee rates, aggregated board exam performance of the institutions, and testimonials of college graduates.

"The hundreds of thousands of visitors who use FindUniversity.ph each month, give us a unique insight into the latest education trends," said the site's business development and marketing director Edgardo Fuentes.

The Commission on Higher Education had a different ranking on its priority courses for its Student Financial Assistance Programs from AY 2014-2015 to AY 2017-2018.

Agriculture and its related fields and engineering courses are CHED's highest priority by CHED. Followed by Science and Math related courses, Information Technology, Education, and Health Sciences.

CHED's lowest priorities are courses that fall under Arts and Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Business Administration and related courses, Architecture, Maritime, and Communication.

Last week, online job portal JobStreet listed down the most in-demand jobs for fresh graduates:
