Videoboard calls for Jim McMahon to save Bears

You know it’s ugly once billboards start to go up around town, and that’s exactly what’s happened in the wake of the Green Bay Packers destroying the Chicago Bears 55-14 on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Command Transportation, a Skokie-based freight broker, used its videoboard to post a picture of former Bears quarterback Jim McMahon on a fictional iPhone that apparently belongs to coach Marc Trestman.

The caption on the videoboard reads: “Marc, answer the phone. Your new QB is calling.”

McMahon led the Bears to victory in Super Bowl XX, but he’s not pulling the club out of its current 3-6 predicament.

Jay Cutler certainly deserves his fair share of criticism coming off a game in which he threw two interceptions and fumbled on a strip sack by Julius Peppers. Cutler finished the game with a passer rating of 68.8, his worst of the season. He has now thrown 22 interceptions in 12 career games against the Packers and owns a record of 1-11 in games against Chicago’s NFC North rival.

Cutler has committed an NFL-high 15 turnovers in nine games, leading to a total of 65 points by opponents.
