After Jinggoy, Revilla wants MRI too

It's now the turn of Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. to request for a medical checkup.

On Thursday, Revilla said that he, too, would like to undergo a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedure to have his persistent headaches checked.

"Sabi ng doctor ko, baka pwedeng ipa-checkup sa ospital, magpa-MRI," Revilla told reporters on the sidelines of his bail hearing.

The senator, however, maintained that other than having migraine attacks, he has no problem with being detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame.

"But I'm okay, malakas ako, malakas ang Panday. I'm not complaining," he said, referring to the famous character he portrayed in film and television.

Revilla, who faces plunder and graft charges over the alleged misuse of his pork barrel fund, attended his bail hearing for the first time in more than two months.

On Wednesday, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, another lawmaker accused in the pork barrel scam, underwent an MRI procedure over persistent pain on his left shoulder.

In a separate interview, Revilla's wife, Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado, said her husband has been having persistent headaches in prison.

"Sa three months niya sa detention facility, mga four times na siyang minigraine talaga," Mercado said.

Revilla's wife added that she wants an MRI done on Revilla since the senator has not had a check up since being detained.

"[We plan to] ask the the courts na biyan siya ng pagkakataon magpa MRI. Matagal na rin siyang walang executive checkup, kaya nagaalala ako. Nagaalala rin yung mga doctors niya sa Crame na baka weak na yung liver niya dahil nga sa painkillers," Mercado said. — RSJ, GMA News
