Charles Woodson comes to grips with another loss

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Observed and heard in the locker room after the Oakland Raiders' 41-17 loss to the Denver Broncos:

Woodson discusses 0-9: After every game 38-year-old safety Charles Woodson discusses the state of the team. With Sunday's loss dropping the Raiders to 0-9, Woodson said he could “never have imagined” being winless at this point.

Mistaken identity: Rookie quarterback Derek Carr said he thought guard Khalif Barnes was running back Darren McFadden when he flipped the ball to Barnes. Barnes caught the ball and then fumbled it, giving Denver the the ball in the red zone.

Hayden will know more later: Cornerback DJ Hayden said he will know more about his groin injury Monday. He suffered the injury in the second half and did not return. He missed the final eight games of last season with a groin injury. He did say he thinks it’s just a “little tweak.”

Day off: Interim coach Tony Sparano said he is giving the players Monday and Tuesday off so they can clear their heads. Oakland plays at San Diego on Sunday and then comes back to host Kansas City four days later. Usually, the team meets and watches film on Mondays.
