Masked PHL gunmen linked to attack on fishing boat off Sabah

Alleged masked Filipino gunmen were tagged in an attack on a fishing boat off northern Sabah on Tuesday, a Malaysian news site reported Wednesday.

 

The Vietnamese crew members of the fishing boat claimed Filipino masked gunmen attacked their vessel, Malaysia's The Star Online reported.

 

The crewmen said the attack occurred at about 9 a.m. Tuesday near Banggi Island. They said they managed to escape and get to Sabah at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

 

At least two of the crew sustained gunshot wounds and were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital 2 in Damai. The others were at the marine police jetty to help in an ongoing police investigation.

 

Earlier, The Star Online said the shooting occurred between Cagayan Island in the Philippines and Pulau Banggi. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
