Apple's new wearable device can be inverted and worn on the right arm for left-handed users, an Apple spokesman has confirmed.

After the announcement of the new Apple Watch, set to be released early in 2015, the internet was awash with rumors that the watch had a major design flaw in that it couldn't be used by the 10% of the World's population who are left-handed.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, however, the Apple Watch can easily be inverted to allow lefties to use it on their right wrist.

According to officials, the Apple Watch offers you the option to set the device up for either a left-handed or right-handed user when you first switch it on.

Users on social media have been criticizing Apple for the apparent faux pas:

Some angry Lefties even created an e-petition to send to Apple to request a left-handed model not realizing that Apple was already one step ahead.

In a video interview with ABC news chief designer Jonathan Ive CBE said that there are "millions" of ways to personal ise the watch. It would seem that left-handed functionality is just one of them.
