re: that last reblog, because there wasn’t really a way to add on to it, and i didn’t want to put it in tags, this–

I learned what a lot of women have to do is make the guys in the room think it was their idea, and then you back them up.

it’s strange to think about how fucking commonplace that has become. like, every girl i know, that’s just how we deal with guys. i’ve had so many jobs of all types (not my current one, thank god) where i’ve had to do this – where every female involved has had to do this – and it’s just so tiresome. you don’t see that happening with guys. guys can have ideas and share them with the world, share them with other guys, and they’re accepted. but girls? nah, you gotta convince some dude it was their fucking idea in order to have them take you seriously. especially like, in this town, i can tell you, that’s something most of my female friends cite as their most valued skill, the ability to convince somebody something was actually their idea. and “somebody” is almost always a dude. anyway, it’s so normalized but it’s so fucked when you think about it for like two seconds. fucking men and their fucking egos. and you know they don’t even realize it most of the time either cuz they’re so used to being the “right” one anyway.

I’ve literally asked male coworkers to present my ideas as their own to my boss just so he’ll take them...
