While the company's impact might overall be underwhelming, Chinese manufacturer Yongnuo made some noise earlier this year when they expanded their product lineup to include optics. In September they released their clone of Canon’s 50mm f/1.4 and just a few weeks ago they made headlines announcing a clone of Canon’s ‘nifty fifty’ lens at half the price.

Now, it appears Nikon users will be able to get in on Yongnuo’s optics lineups. In a statement to PetaPixel a Yongnuo representative said the company is working on a number of lenses for Nikon photographers. Release dates are far from known, but the representative said any product launches will be late in 2015.

Details on what lenses they’re working on are scarce, but with some context clues provided by their Canon offerings, it’s safe to assume they won’t be doing anything too ambitious. Specifically, Nikon’s own 50mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.8 and 35mm f/1.4 are likely going to be the first lenses to get the clone treatment.

With the mirrorless market gaining more attention, it’ll be interesting to see if they expand beyond Canon and Nikon. But as of now there doesn’t seem to be indication of it.
