Brothers Sentenced to 2+ Years in Jail for Greenwich Car Theft, Burglary Spree

The brothers are part of a trio of men Greenwich Police caught in the Byram neighborhood of town back in February.

Two of the three men arrested in connection with a string of Byram and Cos Cob car thefts and burglaries in February have accepted plea deals that will have each of them serving more than two years in jail.

According to Greenwich Time, Jose Colon, 20, of the Bronx, NY, pleaded guilty to a single count of first-degree larceny on Thursday. He was sentenced by Judge Richard Comerford to 27 months in prison — the same sentence his brother Angel Colon, 23, also of the Bronx, received in a similar deal two weeks ago. Both men also were sentenced to three years parole after serving their jail sentence.

The brothers, and fellow Bronx resident, Ramon Luna, 27, originally were charged with 18 counts of third-degree burglary, and one count each of conspiracy at third-degree burglary, first-degree larceny, first-degree larceny by possession, fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy at fourth-degree larceny when they were arrested in Byram on Feb. 7.

At the time, Greenwich Police said the trio was nabbed after a resident reported there were two suspicious vehicles parked on Wellington Place in Byram about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 7. Investigating officers found Luna inside a minivan reported stolen in the Bronx, and the Colon brothers walking near a parked Jeep that was reported stolen from the Cos Cob neighborhood of town.

The men also were in possession of items taken from cars parked in the Byram neighborhood including electronic devices and loose change, police said at the time.
