Police: Man tried to get out of DWI using Mountain Dew
A Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputy said a man tried to get out of a DWI arrest recently by offering authorities free Mountain Dew.Deputies were called to the area of Old Coors and Coors to investigate a single-vehicle crash in which a car had slammed into a light pole. There they found Luis Rodriguez-Neri.Deputies said Rodriguez-Neri told them he had “six shots of Bacardi” before getting behind the wheel. He refused field sobriety and breath alcohol tests.While at the South Valley Command Center, deputies said Rodriguez-Neri offered them Mountain Dew if they let him go.Rodriguez-Neri was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, leaving the scene of an accident, damage to signs/equipment and bribing a public official.
