It’s been known for a while now that Virtuix is planning to showcase the final, consumer-ready version of its Omni omnidirectional treadmill at this week’s 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The company expects to start shipping the anticipated device, which is designed for virtual reality (VR) experiences, a little later on in the year. However an early look at the final version of the Virtuix Omni has seemingly launched online a short while before CES itself opens. The fresh glimpse comes in the form of a new video that can be seen below.
Take your VR gaming to the next level now that the Virtuix Omni One pre-orders have opened for an eye-watering $2,600.
Once they get the graphics up and this tech. gets into the $800-$1k range, it's over. I am happy that Sony is getting the jump on VR gaming. it's going to be insane.
Virtuix enhance location-based operations for Omni operators.
Three new games get Omni VR treadmill support.
Holo deck gaming is getting closer and closer.
That is just a little too much for just gaming.
So freaking cool. I got to test it out in June and it is just as awesome as I thought it would be. It was weird, however, that they were using Oculus DK1 when DK2 had come out months beforehand and the Oculus booth was literally 20 feet away. Haha.
The funny thing is that this can be indirectly marketed as some kind of "Treadmill for Gamers". It only costs like $499, but that price doesn't include the Oculus headset or shipping.
I want this and the Oculus mainly for Fallout 3. Once i can have them, it will happen and i will literally run and laugh as Megaton transforms into a mushroom cloud.
