Best to shut down rather than blackmail users for positive ratings!

DesertFoxJr3483d ago

Agreed. The lack of integrity is astounding. I do feel for the devs as it seems as though they work hard, but this is NOT the way to go about promoting the game.

TheJacksonRGN3483d ago

Yeah this does seem pathetic but don't forget people just abuse the user score system trolling and such. Maybe they want the fans who actually like it to help out. Still threatening to shut down servers is a punk move.

VealParmHero3483d ago

Yea I think what they could have done, was asked the true fans to rise up and help out. That still could seem a bit desperate, but I think people could understand it and it sure would have been better than threats.

Their games for Xbox 360 were awesome and had high scores.

Then they made the Awesome WAR THUNDER, and it had good score and is of high quality.

Not sure why they tried to release this.

Or re-release this I should say.

* They make high quality games with good ratings....

All the people who would buy this are playing War Thunder for free...mad by the same people.

Sounds like a bad management decision.

Hellsvacancy3483d ago

Do people actually use Metacritic and how important is it?

I've never used it and never will

DesertFoxJr3483d ago

I'm sure it's fairly relevant as some companies receive bonuses that are tied to whether or not they get at or above a certain Metacritic score.

Aside from that, I'm sure many others use it. I personally don't, but to each their own.

Foehammer3483d ago

Agree...for the journalist reviews.

The user reviews are a joke, there might as well be just 2 options, 10 and 0.

For the most part the user portion is not a review, it's a vote.

Pay no attention to it

SniperControl3483d ago

User reviews are pathetic anyway, there are currently five 0% reviews of Driveclub by five different people, but all have exactly the same wording. Only desperate fanboys read that crap.

elazz3483d ago

Well I do use it just to see what the general consensus is from well written reviews. (Both users and critics, I don't read all the 0s and 10s but certain are well written)

I actually use trailers combined with personal interest and read in fora about how games play before a purchase. Scores are not important for me

Summons753483d ago

People with even half a sense to them don't use it. They've been caught favoring games and picking good/bad reviews to influence the score and the user reviews are full of uneducated trolls who 90% of the time read as though they never even looked at the game before. It's a trashy site and not really important.

ThunderPulse3483d ago

I've never heard of their game LOL.

ThanatosDMC3483d ago

I hope this will cause backlash and cause a lot of people to review it with 0s or 1s.

GundalfDeGrej3483d ago (Edited 3483d ago )

You don't shut a game down because of a metacritic score... That's just idiotic.

At least it's their choice and not some publisher. Publishers who punish developers because of metacritic are just the worst.

PC Exclusive Combat Flight-Sim IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad Coming To Consoles?

If you're itching for a decent combat flight-simulator for the PS4 or Xbox One then the chances are you're still scratching away - there's just nothing out there at the moment.

However, that itch may be about to get a satisfying scratch.

Wii U port with gamepad support would be awesome.

knickstr3399d ago

Isn't this the russian developer that went crazy on people that were basically testing it and were giving constructive criticism. If so I will stick to war thunder. Fantastic air combat in that game.

IrishSt0ner3399d ago

They threatened to stop development of the game because of low metacritic reviews. A lot of people already paid for early access, so they were seriously considering robbing those gamers.

Revvin3399d ago (Edited 3399d ago )

Yes they banned a large number of users who had been in the early access stage providing feedback right from the start because they complained too much. They did also suggest the project could be closed down if their Metacritic score did not improve. The scores got wiped and restarted and the score went even lower ( http://www.metacritic.com/g...

Someone close to them leaked emails and Steam private chat logs showing that the developer had offered cash and other incentives for them to post positive comments on various internet forums so don't be surprised if you see someone turn up here.

They sucked everyone in buying a $60 and $100 version and then just after it launched they released a Russian ersion for $12 which included all the same content as the $60 version but needed the user to do a little XP grinding to unlock the planes which the full price players had to do anyway to unlock aircraft power-ups.

brainfart3399d ago

Damn thats focked up!!! Thanks I will skip this game!!!

Revvin3399d ago

This is the kind of fairly worded criticism that gets your thread locked down on the official forums: http://forum.il2sturmovik.c...

bumnut3398d ago (Edited 3398d ago )

Yes, I bought their last game (Cliffs of dover) and that was terrible. It was unplayable for months after release and never really got finished.

I hear this game is no better so probably best avoid it.

IL2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad Review | GameGrin

GameGrin's Alex Hamilton writes: "The air is filled with the noise of screeching metal, roaring engines and the flash of tracer fire. Frantically I pull back on the throttle as machine gun bullets pepper the canopy of my Messerschmitt 109 fighter. In front of me a fully-laden bomber explodes in a flower of orange flames. There’s a crack as the glass in my cockpit shatters and then a series of thuds as bullets slam into my wings, tearing one free. As I plummet to earth, wreathed in smoke and fire, one thought crosses my mind:

I am not a very good pilot."

Il-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad game developer’s corruption fully revealed

Earlier this month, controversy surrounding Il-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad and Metacritic surfaced, in which the developers of the game, 1C Game Studios, implied they would permanently shut down multiplayer servers for Battle of Stalingrad if its score on Metacritic did not increase.

Additionally, a chain of emails between Jason Williams, president of 777 Studios (co-developer of the game alongside 1C Games), and the game's testers emerged, revealing alarming instances of unprofessional conduct - including bribery and the aforementioned server shutdown blackmail threat - due to testers' expressed dislike of a certain gameplay feature.

Most recently, a first-party in the entire debacle revealed startling correspondence and unethical actions taken by developers of the game (1CGS), exposing a company that is rife with corruption and a severe lack of integrity.

Sh*t has officially hit the fan.

DesertFoxJr3463d ago

Understatement of the month so far : ) But really. Pretty off-the-wall stuff going on.

ABBAJESUS3463d ago

They should have bought some ads from some review websites before reviews came out. jk

DesertFoxJr3463d ago

Sounds like they didn't want to abide by the status quo.

Finch3463d ago

I am not thrilled this is going on, but damn do I love this game. I been waiting for a new one on next gen just to get my fix.
