Police: Two Norwalk Men Arrested for Darien Burglary

Two Norwak men arrested in South Norwalk are accused of breaking into a house under construction.

Two Norwalk men were identified as burglars who stole more than $8,000 worth of tools and devices left overnight at a locked house under construction on Waldon Road, Darien police said.

Here’s the announcement made Monday by Darien police:

On Jan. 22, this agency responded to a burglary of a Waldon Road residence that was under construction. Initial investigation revealed that the residence was forcibly entered and over $8,000 in contractor’s tools and compressors had been stolen.

On [Wednesday] Feb. 4, Darien police detectives learned the whereabouts of the stolen tools and were subsequently able to recover them. Further investigation produced surveillance video and images of a vehicle that was allegedly used during the burglary.

On [Friday] Feb. 6, detectives were able to identify two of the subjects responsible for the January burglary as Elvin Ramos [26 years old] of [Monroe Street] Norwalk, and Wilmer Arias [38 years old] of [Lincoln Street] Norwalk. At approximately 10 a.m. on that date, both subjects were located in the Meadow Street area of Norwalk and were placed under arrest.

Both subjects were then transported to Darien Police Headquarters where they were charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny.

Both Ramos and Arias were held in lieu of $10,000 bond each. [...] Ramos and Arias were unable to post bond and were arraigned in state Superior Court in Stamford on Monday, Feb. 9. A warrant for a third arrest has been secured by this agency and will be executed at a later date.
