UJA-Federation Communities Make Holidays Brighter for Disadvantaged Kids

Gift of Chanukah makes holidays brighter for agency clients

UJA-Federation of New York’s Northern Westchester and Rivertowns community made the holidays brighter for disadvantaged kids in the county by tie-dying t-shirts and donating and sorting gently used clothing for those in need. The event was part of the Gift of Chanukah, a program, during which the organization’s communities in Westchester host parties with clients at a number of its beneficiary agencies.

“You may not realize this, but UJA supports nearly 100 health, human-service, educational, and community agencies — including the one we’re in right now…the JCC on the Hudson,” Elissa Strauss of Irvington told the gathering at the JCC in Tarrytown. The clothing and t-shirts were donated to Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) Kids’ Kloset program, which distributes the items to vulnerable children in Westchester. WJCS is also supported by UJA-Federation.
