Collecting awesome images of science is something we really enjoy, and some of our most popular WIRED Science galleries each year are also among the most fun for us to put together. This gallery of galleries contains your favorites from this year, which means this is a master list of some truly beautiful, incredible, and disturbing image collections. Among the the top image posts this year are perennial favorites like Earth from space, microscope photography and science visualizations. A lot of the galleries feature historical topics—turns out you like old stuff as much as we do! Some of the newsy galleries this year include a drone's-eye-view of a volcanic eruption in Iceland and a lander's-eye-view of a comet.
We left out our year-end roundups, but you can see them all here and the most popular are in the list on the left. We also left out all but one of our monthly Space Photo of the Day galleries, because there are so many of them that they would have overrun this list.
