Got a Pair of AA Batteries So i Can Play Xbox One? M$ Sucks.

HA--HA i can't believe Microsoft did it again, a next gen console with a controller that requires AA batteries.

They just have to milk yet even more money out of Xbox fanboys for a charge kit? or did the built in lithium ion rechargeable tech just get too complicated for them to figure out.

$500 for the system isn't enough, then theres the game or games you wanna purchase on day one, and an extra $25 for a charge kit, plus tax. Xbone fanboys are looking at close to 7 bills after all is said and done......LOL

Batteries are infinitely replaceable. Non-removeable battery packs are dumb. Waiting for a controller to charge is the worst thing in the world.

They aren't expensive... Nor are the charger packs.

In what situation would you have to wait for your controller to charge? After a 12 hour gaming marathon?...

No, going to the store to buy batteries for a controller is the "worst thing in the world".

I've had it happen. I had to buy a longer cable for my PS3 controller.

If you buy the rechargeable battery pack you'll be waiting for your Xbone controller to charge as well, the PS4 controller only taks 1 hour to get a full charge, if the 360 rechargeable battery pack is any indication, then the Xbone recharge pack can take over two hours for a full charge.

Hence the problem with external packs.

Your parents must buy you groceries. I buy my batteries in 24 packs and use 2-3 every month or two (or three or four... I play very few games these days, and if I do, it's on PC).

It doesn't have to be 12 hours. One doesn't always plug their controller in after they finish using it. Sometimes I get caught with both PS3 controllers out of juice and that 4-foot cable Sony shipped with the PS3 is a joke.

Play and charge is one of the smartest things MS did on the 360.

Pathetic. Microsoft is back at their old tricks. Nickle and dime people to death with overpriced peripherals. So they don't have an external HDD yet, I wonder if they are going to release an official MS external HDD for only $299...

Lithium Ion and NiMH batteries are never the same again after they run dead, and they will need to be replaced eventually. Plus, an 8x pack of rechargeable AA's is only about $5....

And you say the play & charge is one of the smartest things they could come up with. Well isn't that why cows are called cows in the first place? Getting milked for accessories during the PS2 era? Microsoft does it and its different though. And by that logic, I guess smart phones should use AA or AAA batteries as well with a battery sold seperate. There's also no reason the play & charge couldn't just be included with the 360, Xbox One and all controllers to begin with. They just found a way to scam you out of $20 instead.

I guarantee by next generation Xbox 4 they will have Ion Lithium batteries, watch! They are the only holdouts at this point.

Nintendo's Wii U went that internal battery route, obviously smartphones, handhelds like Vita and 3DS, the PS3/PS4, and I reckon the Xbox 4 controllers in five years-six years, unless they release a new controller mid-gen like they did the 360 and Xbox.

Rechargeable AA > built-in.

-Never stuck using a charging cable. Having to use a wire for your wireless controller = fail.

-Rechargeable AAs work with remotes & other household appliances.

-Won't ever have to replace a built-in battery.

NEVER had to replace my PS3's Dualshock 3 once, nor' did it ever require longer charge times over the years..Worked exactly the same from day one as it did 5 years later .Days of gameplay, from a 2 hours 20 minutes of charge time.

Not only did the 360 charge pack take longer to charge, but the charge didn't last more than 12 hours of play....AA's are a constant waste of money.

So you're uber rich, "totally don't live at home with your moms" and "buy dem gold plated AA batteries by da case son" but cant get a longer cable to charge your ps3 controller.... MS products are made for people like you.

Playstation Controller - Internal battery

So the Xbox controller with a battery pack behaves pretty much identically to the Playstation controller except that, if you do let it run flat, you then have the option of using normal batteries whilst the battery pack charges. Also if the battery dies in it you can just buy another battery pack instead of a whole new controller.

Either way who cares? It's such a non issue in any case. Shouldn't you guys be off playing your next gen consoles now? Only reason I'm here is that I'm still at work :)

I don't know why people complain about this; I'm actually happy about it and view the use of AA batteries as a positive. Do you people not own rechargeable AA batteries?

I keep a lot of rechargeable AA batteries at my house for all my many devices that use AA batteries, and I have always really liked that when the batteries on my Xbox 360 controller dies in the middle of a game, I can just get up, quickly grab 2 spare rechargeable AA batteries and put the dead batteries in the recharger and then get right back to my game.

I have always preferred that experience over having to plug my PS3 controller into the console when it needed to recharge which stops me from playing the game because I don't want to play while my controller is connected to the console by a small cable.

No it wont. I've had such a hard time with MS batty packs (not to mention the controllers themselves) last gen I had to give up and buy a wired controller.

In contrast, I have both launch PS3 controllers (along with 2 new ones) that still work, hold a charge and never cost me a penny more.

Save you're $30, you'll need it for batteries.... apparently.

Made the switch to eneloops for all household batteries about a year back, have plenty of rechargables much better than than the built in packs and can swap them at will. Built in battery packs are a major downgrade for me.

If you don't care about throwing money out the window, you can throw me $15, I'll gladly take it.

Yeah that's what I did. Duracell rechargeable AA batts. Easy, cheap, and useful for other things.

He never said an MS battery pack. Buy a Duracell AA charger and rechargeables. I got charger and 4 AA batts for 20 bucks at Walmart and they have lasted me 3 plus years.

get a dual shock and it will last you the life of your console at no extra charge

Not true. I got angry playing demons souls and slammed it on my desk and it didn't last LOL. I understand for some people here, and I'm not saying its you, that they need any little complaint against the "other" console. When you're approaching my age, and have literally pissed away so much money in bars, and on women that gave you nothing, paying for batteries is such a non issue. Its all relative I guess. I have bigger problems than buying batteries. And as I said, I don't have to. My rechargeables are doing great.

I said in my first post that my NiMH batteries also lose efficiency and need to be replaced. Also, I got 16x NiMH Rayovak AA's for the price of 4x Duracell's...
