The New York Times reports that the producer and singer-songwriter Daniel Lanois was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Saturday. According to The Globe and Mail, Lanois fell while riding his motorcycle through the L.A. neighborhood Silverlake, and he was admitted to intensive care.

Lanois has been scheduled to play shows in Canada and Europe with the group Black Dub this summer, but those shows have been postponed. The release of album that Lanois and Black Dub have recorded together is also on hold.

Though Lanois has released a number of solo records, he's best known as the producer of albums like Bob Dylan's Time Out of Mind and Peter Gabriel's So. Together with Brian Eno, Lanois has produced most of the albums in U2's discography.
