Do you find yourself taking your relationship for granted? Do you give more thought to your partner's annoying traits rather than to what attracted you to your partner? Every now and then it is helpful to reset your thinking by taking a step back and reflecting on the good in your partner and your relationship. And it is even better to share those reflections with your partner. A few nice words can go a long way.

See if you can infuse a little extra positivity and love into your relationship this weekend by taking a few moments tonight to do something nice for your partner.

This positivity booster shot is just two simple step:

1. Take a couple of minutes this afternoon to reflect on your partner's best traits. What are your partner's strengths? What do you admire most about your partner? If you had to write a letter of recommendation for your partner, what would you say? Come up with 3-5 traits.

2. Ask your partner if you can talk for a few minutes and then list your partner's best traits. Don't ask your partner to do the same for you (but it's okay if they do it spontaneously). Let your partner know you just wanted to say what it is about your partner that you admire, that you don't expect anything in return.

And if you're up for it, there is a third step. Come back here and let me know if doing this simple exercise had any effect on your relationship. I'd like to make these relationship booster shots a regular feature on this blog if they are helpful.
