Abstract: Objective:To investigate the relationship between the expression of growth differentiation factor-15(GDF-15) and the degree of heart failure induced by myocardial infarction. Methods:70 patients with heart failure induced by myocardial infarction were selected as study subjects and enrolled in the study group(group A). 70 healthy volunteers were enrolled in the control group(group B). Patients in the two groups were given venous blood test. The serum growth differentiation factor-15(GDF-15) were recorded. The correlation between the degree of heart failure and GDF-15 were analyzed. Results:Patients in group A with cardiac function grade I were 13 cases(18.5%). Patients with I degree of heart failure were 24 cases(34.3%). Patients with Ⅱ degree of heart failure were27 cases(38.6%). Patients with Ⅲ degree of heart failure were 6 cases(8.6%). The with serum GDF-15 levels in the group A were significantly higher than that of control group(P <0.05), the level of serum GDF-15 expression increased with the degree of heart failure increased(P<0.05). Conclusion:The level of GDF-15 can be used as an important indicator to determine the degree of heart failure in patients with myocardial infarction, which is worthy of clinical application.
