A key analyst sees 'no impact' to any 'iPhone 6' display shortage
Do you remember last week’s story from Reuters about how production issues could delay the launch of the “iPhone 6″ ? Forget about it, says at least one Wall Street analyst, according to AppleInsider.
J.P. Morgan’s Rod Hall told investors on Monday that “This sounds like a typical late-in-the-game supply chain story that turns out to have no impact on launch dates or devices sales.” He continued, “We believe that initial supply could be slowed somewhat if there is any truth to this but we doubt that iPhone unit volumes in the fall are likely to be impacted.”
On Sunday, I noted that Reuters was probably right and Apple was having production issues with the next iPhone. However, I said that those issues were almost certainly resolved without necessitating a launch delay.
It’s good to see that I’m not the only one to voice this opinion.
As AppleInsider correctly highlighted “as for the track record for Reuters, the news publication also claimed last year that Apple’s iPad mini with Retina display may not arrive until 2014 due to alleged supply constraints. Of course, that report ended up being erroneous, as the high-resolution iPad mini launched last year without issue.”
The iPhone 6 is expected to be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
