Rapper Eminem has sold off his Detroit childhood home brick by brick to fans, with part of the proceeds of the sale going to charity.
The online sale of the bricks commemorates 16 years since the release of his hit album The Mashall Mathers LP.
There were a total of 700 bricks available, each paired with a certificate of authenticity signed by the rapper, as well as a dog tag made from wood from the house, a t-shirt, and the Marshall Mathers LP on cassette.
The packages were listed on Eminem’s official website for $US350. All of the bricks have now been sold, with die-hard fans only able to purchase those being re-sold on eBay.
The Detroit home famously featured on the Marshall Mathers LP cover art.
The album won a Grammy Award in the Best Rap Album category in 2001. Most of his earliest lyrics were written in the home.
The Dresden St property was torn down in 2013, reportedly due to health and safety issues.

Not all fans were impressed with the brick selling though, and many took to Twitter to voice their concerns.

Yet despite what some of his fans seem to think, it’s unlikely the star is selling the bricks to make extra money.
Thanks to an extensive back catalogue and a number of investments, Eminem is currently sitting at number #82 on Forbes Word’s Highest Paid Celebrities list.
Part of the proceeds from the sale of the bricks will be donated to the Marshall Mathers Foundation, which funds programs for at-risk young people in Michigan and other parts of the US.
