Barrie Police Service’s first junior constables graduated Friday at the end of a week of a special camp.

The camp is run in conjunction with the Simcoe District School Board.

Teachers from schools across the city have nominated students to take part in the camp, selected based on the idea that they otherwise wouldn’t have had the chance to go to summer camp this year.

The students spent time with Barrie officers Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and their days encompassed some of the things a police officer does:

  • Forensic Identification
  • Interviewing
  • Drill/Marching
  • Physical fitness with the Training Unit

Friday morning the students took their Oath of Secrecy with Chief Kimberley Greenwood.

The Junior Constable Camp was held in part using funding of about $10,000 through a Provinical P.A.V.I.S grant.
