Quentin Tarantino's Science Fiction Movie Could Be Seriously Weird

He had a bad zombie trip in Planet Terror (pictured above), but Quentin Tarantino has never directed a straight-up science fiction movie before. But that might be about to change. He told Comic-Con he's working on something.

According to The Playlist, Tarantino was asked at the Django Unchained/Zorro panel whether he'd ever make a science fiction or fantasy movie, and he responded:

If you had asked me a few years ago I would have said: 'Nah, not really, I don't know.' But i have a little idea right now. It's a little flower, you know, like a bean sprout, but those tend to grow into stalks. So this is the first time I'll be able to say 'maybe.' It won't be a spaceship sci-fi, it'll be Earthbound.

He wouldn't give any details about his idea, but there may be a hint in another one of his answers. He was asked if he would like to take on an existing franchise and put his own spin on it. To which he said: "A series that I would like to put a spin on is the 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers.' I want to take it from the pod people's perspective, so you're actually rooting for the pod people. I don't think they're so bad." [The Playlist]
