NDRRMC: Damage from Mario breaches P3 billion mark


The damage from Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong) breached the P3 billion mark as of Sunday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

In its update, the NDRRMC said the damage to infrastructure and agriculture in several areas including Ilocos, Cagayan, Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Cordillera and Metro Manila, now amounts to P3,421,478,199.51:

  • P585,357,721.02 in infrastructure in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and Cordillera
  • P2,836,120,478.49 in agriculture in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa and Cordillera

Some 2,124 houses were destroyed while 8,501 were damaged.

The death toll remained at 18, with 16 people injured and four others missing.

At least 437,303 families or 1,981,935 people were affected in 1,828 barangays in 27 provinces. Of these, 2,177 families or 8,769 people are in 43 evacuation centers.

Some 32 roads and two bridges are still not passable while 19 areas in Pangasinan and Pampanga remained flooded. — Joel Locsin/BM, GMA News
