PNoy to meet with Pangilinan over NFA chief’s resignation

President Benigno Aquino III will meet with presidential food security assistant Francis Pangilinan over the resignation of National Food Authority administrator Arthur Juan, Malacañang said Saturday.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said on state-run dzRB Radyo ng Bayan the president's office is making the arrangements for the meeting.

“Ina-arrange na po ng Private Office ‘yung pagkakasunud-sunod ng mga magiging pulong at pag-uusap ng Pangulong Aquino. I think that also includes the meeting that the President will have with Secretary Pangilinan on the resignation that was tendered by Arthur Juan of the NFA,” Valte said.

A Palace statement noted Juan, 68, had tendered his irrevocable resignation amid accusations of extortion.

It said Pangilinan had said he would meet with Aquino to take up what steps to take now that Juan has quit.

The Palace also noted Pangilinan had initially said Juan, who had been at his post for just three months, cited poor health in resigning. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
