NDRRMC: 1 week after TS Mario, 32 roads still impassable, 33 areas still flooded


More than a week after Tropical Storm Mario (Fung-Wong) dumped rain over parts of Luzon, 32 roads remained impassable while 33 areas are still flooded, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Saturday.

In its update, the NDRRMC also said some parts of Ilocos and Cordillera are still experiencing power interruptions as of Friday.

The NDRRMC said the 32 roads and two bridges that remain impassable are located in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Bicol, Central Visayas, Cordillera, and Metro Manila.

Still flooded are parts of Pangasinan, Pampanga and Bulacan.

The death toll as of 8 a.m. Saturday remained at 18, with 16 injured and four missing.

Mario affected 437,303 families or 1,981,935 people in 1,828 barangays in 27 provinces. Of these, 2,177 families or 8,769 people are still inside 43 evacuation centers.

At least 1,896 houses were destroyed while 5,254 were damaged in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central and Southern Luzon and Cordillera.

Damage was estimated at P2,532,012,228.39, including P585,357,721.02 in infrastructure and P1,946,654,507.37 in agriculture. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
