Katonah's Harvey School Loses in Football at Home to Dalton, 20-36

The Cavaliers got the game even in the third quarter when Harvey senior captain Ricky Hicks capped off a drive with a 4-yard TD plunge.

Harvey’s varsity football team lost Thursday at home 36-20 to Dalton in a battle featuring several big plays.

Dalton struck first on a 40-yard option run but Harvey came right back, marching down the field and scoring on a 9-yard run by sophomore running back Teddy Little. Dalton scored again on a 35-yard pass, but Harvey looked primed to score and tie the game when the Cavaliers marched down to the Dalton 9-yard line. But a fumble in the backfield stopped the drive, leaving Harvey on the short end of a 14-6 score as the first half ended.

The Cavaliers got the game even in the third quarter when Harvey senior captain Ricky Hicks capped off a drive with a 4-yard TD plunge and Little made it into the endzone for the two-point conversion. But the tie did not last long as Dalton returned the ensuing kick-off 65 yards to put the visitors up 21 - 14.

In the third quarter, it looked like the Cavaliers were on their way to knot the score again, but their drive stalled at the Dalton 12-yard line with Harvey turning the ball over on downs. On the next play, the Dalton’s running back ripped through the middle of the Harvey defense and ran 89 yards for the score. Dalton scored again three minutes later on a 38-yard running play before Little finished the scoring for Harvey with a 48-yard TD run.

Harvey’s junior captain quarterback Tom Smith completed six passes for 67 yards and Hicks and Little rushed for a combined 251 yards and three TDs. The defense was led by senior captain Jared Finkel (five tackles, recovered fumble), junior captain Javen Stepp-Davis (four tackles, forced fumble), Little (five tackles), junior Joe O’ Connell (four tackles, forced fumble) and senior Dillon Singleton of Mount Kisco (four tackles). Senior Alex Bae of Bedford and junior Mike DePass each had an interception.

Harvey is now 0-3 on the season.
