Great game, just picked it up last night through PS +, the artwork is great and the gameplay is smooth and addictive.

You're absolutely right about the artwork and the gameplay. I do wish it was a bit harder though. Unlike the reviewer, I'm not a seasoned Metroid-vania veteran, and even I found it to be rather easy. I can understand why fans of that genre though would expect more of a challenge. Definitely worth picking up though.

I played it first on Normal difficulty, which was really quite easy, but then on my second playthrough I did it on the hardcore difficulty, and it was a massive difference. I was getting one shotted by several of the enemies, so you had to be really careful. This may not be the most imaginative way to increase difficulty (increase enemy health and damage), but it gave it a little of a dark souls feeling since I would be dying so often.

Snookies123470d ago

Yeah, I started on Hardcore and played it through on that. Really gave it a great challenge. :]

I just finished it last week. Regardless of other thoughts, a lot of props go out to Dean Dodrill for developing essentially the entire game (except some writing and sound).

If I remember correctly this game was created by just 1 guy, pretty amazing if you ask me.

I wouldn't usually look at this sort of game, but quite enjoying this....ps+ does it again

TheDude793470d ago

That is definitely a plus about...er...Plus. It gives subscribers the opportunity to experience a good game that may otherwise get looked over for the much bigger games. Even if it wasn't free, I'd pick this game up.

It's a great game and an easy platinum too.

Good game. I loved it on my 360.

Hollow Knight was a masterpiece. I cared less for the arena combat (Gods, not in the in-game arena) but everything was tight and the exploration was extremely enjoyable. Absolute masters of their craft in level design. I hope Silk Song gives the bees a second chance since their area was only a short subsection.
