    an amazing and huge game with so many characters and large levels to explore and complete, kids and parents will love the choice of characters and levels at their disposal! and once the game has been beaten there is still so much more to do such as finding all the mini kits and gold bricks, and don't forget to look for Adam west in every level. While you're at it you should get the season pass or buy the extra levels separately and have even more fun! you should buy this and all the other LEGO games available.

    Lots of fun, the novelty of visiting the lantern worlds, and a pretty solid story raises this above previous LEGO games. There are piles of characters of course including a lot of obscure favourites, but a canny player will only end up getting them during endgame, and as usual you can only use the pre-chosen characters for the story playthrough. To be clear on this, if you're a DC fan at all there will be some characters you like which are not present; 150 is not, as it turns out, actually a lot.

    This is not unequivocally better than LEGO Batman 2 because there's so little personality in the open world(s): while Gotham city was full of interesting locations, in LEGO Batman 3 most of the open areas are seven lantern worlds (mini-planets in Super Mario Galaxy style) which feature little but a slideways gate and a central power battery. Admittedly there are a couple of characters, a bunch of enemies and some simple side quests on each of these worlds, and the remaining open areas are more interesting (Batcave, Justice League satellite, Hall of Justice), but it gives the impression of a highly constrained universe containing nothing but heroes and villains. The way that the lantern worlds are arranged (accessible only via the moon, which is initially blocked off), you could easily end up not visiting any of them before you've finished the main story.

    Changing suits (as seen in previous LEGO Batman games) has been extremely simplified to a quick buttonpress, and the suits ability has been expanded to three other characters. It's a lot quicker, but feels a lot more artificial, and expanding the roster of characters with "suits" invites questions about why those characters specifically should get them. However it's also extremely easy to change characters in Free Play, and these two combined make it easier to play as characters you like in your Free Play squad (including using Batman more!).

    The interface for purchasing unlocks has been also been extremely simplified, which is in some sense fantastic - you no longer need to hunt down that character you want to buy - but also contributes to the lack of personality in the open world as you simply don't see characters wandering around much.

    Acquiring gold bricks is now almost entirely pointless, with them (I think) only serving to unlock slideways gates to lantern worlds, which is completely done at a fairly low number of bricks.

    Overall it's a really good experience, with less character than other LEGO games.
