USC Hosting Coach Sark Rising Stars Camp

The Rising Stars Camp did wonders for Marqise Lee four years ago, and plenty of prospects would love a similar career arch to transpire under this unique opportunity.

While they can't instruct current USC players until Fall Camp, Coach Sarkisian and the entire coaching staff will get their best look at some of the top prospects in the local area as hosts for the two-day, overnight Coach Sark Rising Stars Camp.

Among those in attendance are safety Marvell Tell, cornerback Iman Marshall, quarterback Ricky Town, linebacker John Houston, defensive lineman Rasheem Green, offensive lineman Roy Hemsley and offensive lineman Breland Brandt. Plenty of other top "college-ready" recruits will be on the practice field hoping for a chance to earn one of those 14 remaining scholarships USC has on the table in the 2015 class.

The 2014 Rising Stars Camp stands alone in the grind of summer activities because these college hopefuls get the chance to compete against three, four or even five-star recruits at Cromwell Field and the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Coaches will conduct a wide variety of drills aimed at perfecting individual technique and will then conduct the much anticipated 1-on-1 pass rushing drills and the ever popular 7-on-7 Trojan Ball team periods. But what may put this camp over the edge, besides the John McKay Center, strong coaching and tough competition, could in fact be the music.

The closed-off sessions will give USC and other visiting coaches an inside look at what these top prospects can bring to the table. With some Nike Opening Prospects, Elite 11 Performers (Ricky Town) and kids looking for an opportunity to shine, Sarkisian's ever present competition-heavy mantra will be rampant.

Keep in mind that Sarkisian and his 29-person staff dished out a payroll of $32,588.60 for last year's camps in Washington, which included several high school coaches from California, Utah and Arizona. USC did announce that some of the top Junior College coaches (Mt. SAC, LBCC, Orange Coast) will be in attendance complementing the Trojans entire staff but their salary numbers have not yet been released.
