Inside Cary Grant's stunning Palm Springs retreat

A Spanish-style manor home in Palm Springs once owned by Cary Grant is for sale for $US3.495 million.

Designed by John Byers,  Las Palomas is a Spanish Colonial style property with many features reminiscent of a 19th-century Andalusian farmhouse.

Terracotta floor and roof tiles, high-beamed ceilings and fireplaces are just some of the original features that you can see today in the home, which was constructed in 1930.

In 2009, the property was restored to its former glory and it has been listed as a historic site by the Palm Springs City Council.

Hand-painted tiles and original bathroom fittings add rustic charm while white roughly textured stucco cement on the external walls are in keeping with the house’s unique architectural style.

The 0.6 hectare block features vast lawns that are well-maintained, providing a tranquil setting in the harsh desert environment.

The six-bedroom property was a desert retreat for the famed Hollywood actor from 1954-1972.

His initials adorn the large front gates and there is also a small plaque to both the actor and the architect outside the property describing hits architectural value to the neighbourhood.

Located in the prominent Movie Colony neighbourhood, during Hollywood’s golden era the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, Grace Kelly, and Frank Sinatra all stayed at the house, as reported by Sky News Real Estate’s Prue Miller.
