After months of speculation and denials, Sookie St. James will be making her triumphant return to Stars Hollow after all: Gilmore Girls" revival.

The comedy superstar made the surprising announcement during an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that's set to air on Friday afternoon, revealing that she'd be reprising her role as the lovable chef in at least one of the four 90-minute mini movie episodes. McCarthy said that the series "has been near and dear to my heart" for years, and she was finally able to work out the tricky scheduling to make a cameo possible.

"['Gilmore' creator] Amy Sherman-Palladino is gonna squeeze me in to do it, and I'm very happy to go back to Stars Hollow," McCarthy told DeGeneres. "I'm so excited about it."

That's a reversal from earlier this year, when McCarthy said that she wasn't even asked back for Netflix's revival. Sherman-Palladino had claimed that she reached out to McCarthy's reps and was turned down, though it seems like that was a bit of a miscommunication. Then, after McCarthy's Twitter statement, the actress was formally asked, but thought she would be too busy, and said no. Finally, this week, Sherman-Palladino told Entertainment Weekly that she was still open to McCarthy appearing, even for just a quick cameo, if she was available for an afternoon.

McCarthy confirmed that her busy slate of film projects made planning her "Gilmore" return difficult -- "We could not get those schedules to work," she told DeGeneres" -- but thankfully, everything has been straightened out now. While her appearance may be a short one, after so many disappointing denials, we'll take whatever small dose of the comedienne we can get.

According to TVLine, the actress will be shooting her scene sometime in the next few days. The "Gilmore Girls" revival is in production until May, and is set to debut on Netflix sometime later this year.
