Robert Jadkowski, 78, Worked For Tensolite Wire Company In Tarrytown

HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Robert "Bob" Jadkowski, a lifelong resident of Hastings-on-Hudson, died Nov. 18. He was 78.

Jadkowski was born and raised in Hastings-on-Hudson, to John and Stella Jadkowski. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1954. In 1955, he went to work for the Tensolite Wire Company in Tarrytown, where he worked for the next 30 years rising to the position of director of manufacturing. He subsequently went on to work for Thermo-Electric Wire in New Jersey until his retirement in 1998.

He was a member of the Hastings Fire Department Hook & Ladder Co., No. 1 since 1959 and served as company captain in 1980 to 1981. He was also a member of the Hastings Southside Club since 1959.

Jadkowski is survived by his son, James (Margaret) Jadkowski of Yonkers; sisters, Estelle Breckles of Deer Park and Ruthanne (Gene) Mignogna of Peachtree City, Ga.; nieces and nephews; and partner, Bobbi Zabarowska. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, John "Jack" Jadkowski Jr.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21 at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Church of St. Matthew, R.C., Hastings-on-Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hastings-on-Hudson Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corp.
