Jennifer Carpenter Joins 'The Evil Within' Voice Cast [Video]

It's been almost a year since the finale of Dexter, and Jennifer Carpenter has joined another project, this time for a video game. via EW: Resident Evil‘s creator, Shinji Mikami, is looking to strike fear into the hearts of players everywhere once again with his new game, The Evil Within. The title’s publisher, Bethesda Softworks, confirmed today that Mikami will have help from a voice cast full of actors who are no strangers to the genre.

Bethesda revealed that Watchmen and Freddy Krueger himself Jackie Earle Haley, as well as Dexter‘s Jennifer Carpenter, will voice some of the game’s main roles.

The Evil Within follows Detective Sebastian Castellanos, who Bethesda announced will be voiced by Hell on Wheels‘ Anson Mount. Castellanos and his partner Juli Kidman are thrown into a terrifying world of monsters and other horrors after they investigate a mass murder.

Haley stars as the antagonist, Ruvik, while Carpenter plays Castellanos’ partner Kidman in what marks a video game voice-over debut for both actors. While Kidman will likely not be as foul-mouthed as Carpenter’s previous detective character on Dexter, she’s certainly suited to the role—as is Haley, known for his turns as Rorschach and Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. The Evil Within launches on Oct. 14 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PC.
