Remove the tree from its packaging. There will be several pieces of equipment in the box and the best way to get your bearings is to lay all the bits and pieces out on the ground. If there are plastic bags of little nuts or bolts, tear a small hole so you have easy access when you need them.

Set up the Christmas tree stand. This will form the base of the tree so it’s really important that this is set up correctly and strongly. Each tree will vary slightly in the exact instructions of how to put together the base, but if you follow them exactly, your base will be set up in no time.

Find the longest branch section. The “trunk” will be split into several sections represented by letters ‘A’ through whatever the last section is labeled. ‘A’ always represents the top of the tree so find the section that is furthest from ‘A’.

Secure the first section of the “trunk” into the tree base. Depending on what type of tree you have you may have to secure it with a bolt or some other mechanism. The tree will start to take shape now.

- The branches get smaller and smaller with each section until you finally reach the top.

One technique when fluffing is to separate the wires evenly with your hands, and work from the bottom up.^{[9]

Plastic foot inserted upside-down in artificial Christmas tree. How can I remove plastic foot without breaking it?

Most offer an easy push-to-eject function that, if pushed just right, will allow the foot to come out without breaking. Give it a little more force, and with the end of your thumb, push the foot from the base outward. Few will have a one-touch button that will eject all at once, but they do sporadically pop up.
