Aerosmith may stage farewell tour in 2017

Legendary rockers Aerosmith may call their live show quits next year after more than four decades in the business. In a new Rolling Stone interview, frontman Steven Tyler alluded to a possible farewell tour in 2017. “I’m doing 30 [solo] shows from May until August,” said Tyler, who is promoting his forthcoming country album. “And then in 2017 we go out with Aerosmith. We’re probably doing a farewell tour.”

Aerosmith last performed publicly on September 15, 2015 in Moscow, and while Tyler’s comments might suggest the band is on good terms, recent remarks by guitarist Joe Perry were less positive. “If I didn’t know him when I heard the song I’d go, ‘It’s OK, next,'” he said in an interview about Tyler’s music with USA Today. “He’s got a f–king rhinestone cowboy hat going, ‘Yippee ki yay.’ I don’t know what else to say about that.”

Tyler also noted the band’s longevity — and provided a morsel of hope for fans. “Look, there’s two bands that still have the original members, us and the Stones,” he said. “Whether we do a farewell tour or go into the studio and do another record, I’m just excited about it.”
