Update: Murdered Stamford Taxi Driver Is Identified

The victim was reportedly found Wednesday morning on Doolittle Road by a landscaping crew, according to Stamford Police.

Update: 4:40 p.m., Aug. 27:

Stamford Police reportedly identified the stabbing victim found on Doolittle Road Wednesday as Stamford Taxi driver Mahomed Kamal.

Kamal, 47, apparently was stabbed multiple times in his Lincoln Town Car cab during what may have been a robbery, police said. According to The Stamford Times, police were called by a landscaping crew that found Kamal’s body near
150 Doolittle Rd.

According to police, Kamal’s Stamford Taxi vehicle collided into a wooded section at the end of Doolittle Road. Police Chief Jon Fontneau said investigators are trying to determine whether Kamal was the victim of a robbery, according to The Advocate.

Police said Kamal’s cab was driven into the woods at the end of the dead-end road, probably in the early morning hours. An autopsy will be performed by the office of the Chief State Medical Examiner.

Police are asking anyone in the area that may have seen anything suspicious after 3 a.m. to call detectives at 203-977-4421.

Stamford Police are investigating the apparent stabbing death of a cabbie not far from the Merritt Parkway on Wednesday morning.

According to The Stamford Times, Stamford Police said the taxi driver was found dead in his car on Doolittle Road with multiple stab wounds.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, Stamford Police said, “At this time, the Stamford Police Department is investigating an untimely death that occurred on Doolittle Rd. While we are not releasing any info. in regards to the ongoing investigation, a press release will be available later today.”
