Tim McGraw has released "Overrated," the latest single from his upcoming album, Sundown Heaven Town. In the song, McGraw chides those who are too materialistic:
"Building up a stack of bones / Keeping up with the Jones / Getting us all so jacked and jaded / Baby if you're asking me / Love is really all we need / Everything else is overrated, overrated."
According to McGraw, he still approaches making a record like a fan of music:
"First and foremost, above anything else, I'm a fan and I'm a music fan. When I hear a demo of a song, or when I hear a song on the radio, I listen to it as a fan. As a kid listenin' to albums, when I grew up it was vinyl, you're listenin' to vinyl and you knew every crease in that album cover, down to the trademark symbol, you knew everything on it. You would listen to that music over and over and over again and you would try to pick what the next singles were gonna be. It's the same thing that I do with my records, or anybody else's records."
Sundown Heaven Town hits September 16.
