Parents in Mequon will see stiffer fines for hosting underage drinking parties.The Common Council voted this week to raise the citation up to $2,500. Previously, the citation was $376.City leaders said they needed to spike the fines for parents after an increase in parties during the past year.“It clearly wasn’t making any impression at all,” said Connie Pukaite of the Mequon Common Council. “We had some just sort (of) laugh it off. Well, they won’t laugh off $2,500, I don’t think.”Thiensville, which neighbors Mequon, raised its fines earlier this year.
