1 man killed, 2 people injured in Newark shooting

One man was killed and two other people were injured Friday night in a shooting at 59th N 9th Street in Newark, officials said.

NEWARK — One man was killed and two other people were injured Friday night in a shooting in the Roseville section of Newark, officials said.

Police were called to the 50th block of North 9th Street at 11 p.m. where they found two males and one woman with gunshot wounds, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.

All three victims were rushed to University Hospital. Andrew Peppers, 28, of Newark was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:11 a.m, the statement said.

The other victims are being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
