Len, who has been on Strictly since it began 10 years ago, admits he always braces himself for the worst during each SCD show.

“Before it starts, I think, ‘This is gonna be terrible’" he said.

He added:“I don’t watch a lot of evening television and I thought, ‘I don’t know half of these people.’

“But then it starts and I’ve decided it doesn’t mater if you don’t know them because you get to know them as it goes along.”

The former professional ballroom dancer also advised it's important to have fun on the dancefloor – especially if you have two left feet.

“If you can’t do it very well, you’ve got to come out and make it fun,” he Said.

“That’s what I told Gregg Wallace, I said to him, ‘You dance like I cook - chuck it all in and hope for the best.’ That’s the way to go, just get out there and have a good time.”

Strictly Come Dancing is on BBC One tonight at 18.30pm.
