Hugh Fox, Jr., Astorino Aide and Conservative Party Leader, Resigns over DWI Arrest

Fox had worked for Astorino since 2010.

Hugh Fox, Jr. resigned from his job as an aide to Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino over Fox’s recent arrest for driving while intoxicated, according toThe Journal News and the New York Post.

Fox is alleged to have crashed his county-owned car in White Plains on Monday and resigned Tuesday, writes reporters Elizabeth Ganga and Jorge Fitz-Gibbon of The Journal News.

The Post’s Danika Fears writes that police said Fox was allegedly “slurring his speech” and he also failed a roadside sobriety test.

“In submitting his resignation he said he understood the seriousness of the situation and would take full responsibility for his actions,” Ned McCormack, a spokesperson for Astorino, told The Journal News.

Fox, who is chairman of the Westchester Conservative Party, is a retired Yonkers firefighter who was earning more than $100,000 a year as an aide to Astorino.
